5 Absurd Factors The indian subcontinent Can To guard Women In public areas.

Hyderabad’s State Road Transport Corporation is putting sliding doors between the general and women's section in its city buses. We’re literally resorting to a primitive purdah concept. And instead of addressing the real reason for this (read, some men can’t keep their hands off women), we’re separating them with a wall of plastic. The government loves this line of thinking, and uses it wherever possible. Here’re some examples from your everyday life.

1. Women's buses.

Why it's ridiculous: Herding women in exclusive buses is almost like moving a precious convoy in armored vehicles. To make men OK with women in public spaces, we have to make it possible for them to think women are also people, like them. Instead, some men look at them longingly, from a distance as the bus passes by.

2. Reserved women seating.

Why it's ridiculous: This only happens when metros, buses or trains are so crowded that women will get accidentally or intentionally groped. We’re ignoring that we need public transport or spaces that don’t stuff people like cattle. Also, a guy might be more reluctant to give up a seat to a woman if she’s unwell – he can just tell her to get the young woman sitting in the women’s seat to move.
