An ATM Machine In Odisha Is Helping Women Report Cases Of Harassment, Anonymously

On an average, 92 women are raped in India every day, 4 of them in the capital. But less than 5 percent cases get reported to the police. The conviction ratio, is even more dismal. Something needs to change. A senior CBI officer, Joydeep Nayak, understood this, and has worked to rectify this. He has created the “Instant Complaint Logging Internet Kiosk,” or “iClik,”- an ATM machine-like kiosk, that will help women report cases of harassment against them in an anonymous manner.

Needless to say, it is the need of the hour in a country like India, where women are scared to report cases of abuse against them. There was recently an incident in Bengal, where a girl was gang-raped for the second time, as a punishment for reporting an earlier rape.
