In her first ever YouTube interview with Florian Mundt, aka LeFloid, German chancellor Angela Merkel said that she is not in favour of gay marriages because she sees marriage as a union between a man and a woman. "For me, personally, marriage is the coexistence between a man and a woman," she said. Merkel said that she backed civil partnerships, equal treatment in tax legislation for LGBT community and fought discrimination wherever it persisted. She said Germany had come a long way from a point of time when people didn't dare to come out with their sexuality.
