INDIAN batsman Rohit Sharma has become the first man in one-day international history to surpass 250 runs in an innings. Sharma’s stunning world record knock of 264 from 172 propelled India to 5-404 against Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI at Eden Gardens. He clubbed 33 boundaries and nine sixes during his explosive stay at the crease.

Sharma was dismissed on the last ball of the innings, caught on the long off boundary.

“We wanted to get a big score and that made me stay there as long as possible, “ Sharma said after his amazing knock.

“It’s a very, very special ground to me. I made my Ranji Trophy debut here.

“I made my Test debut here.”
