Jet Airways To Do An Airlift Like Operation To Get Its Passengers Out Of Belgium

In an operation inspired by Bollywood film Airlift, Jet Airways is moving hundreds of its passengers stranded in Brussels after the recent terror attacks in the Belgian capital.

Jet, in a statement released after all the 800 passengers boarded buses to Amsterdam on Wednesday, said, "The Brussels airport continues to be closed for operations and is out of bound for passengers following the unfortunate events of March 22. Jet has now made alternate arrangements to transfer its guests from Brussels." For its two injured cabin crew, Jet said: "(They) are safe in hospitals. We have made arrangements for family members of the injured crew to travel to Brussels."

The airline has cancelled all its flights to and from Delhi, Mumbai, Toronto, Newark and Brussels till Saturday, and also the Brussels-Mumbai flight scheduled on Sunday. Jet was supposed to make Amsterdam its new European hub for international operations starting Sunday. But they would now have to start flying earlier, stopping their operations completely in Brussels, that has been a hub since 2008.
