As a kid, Sudarsan Pattnaik wanted to be an artist but he had no money to afford pen, paper or colours. He was also forced to drop out of school because of financial constraints. Disappointed, he headed to the beach where he found the answer to all his problems: Sand. The sand would act as his pen and paper. Starting small, he went on to make great masterpieces using just sand. Today, he is one of India’s leading sand artists and is renowned worldwide, having won competitions across the globe.
