8.D`Souza Chawl of Mahim, Mumbai

A well in the D`souza Chawl area of Mumbai, Mahim has acquired the reputation of being haunted. It is said that a woman, while getting water, fell to her death in the well. Many people claim to have seen the ghostly apparition of that woman near the well during nights. She is also said to be harmless…. But the sight of the woman itself is so scary….

7. Lohaghat, Uttrakhand

Located in the foothills of Himalayas, this peaceful place had a mansion which was later converted into a hospital in memory of the owner. All was going fine until when a Doctor joined the staff in 1900. He was known for predicting deaths. He would roll out some patients names and ask them into a different room where they would die the next day. The room was later renamed as ‘Mukti Kothri’. Did he murder them? The truth, however, is buried, but the ones who died in that room are called ‘Bhoot ki Dhaang’ by the localites meaning they are recurring spirits who walk on the roads of Lohaghat after dark. Locals also claim that due to this spirit their small town never flourishes.
