This 65-YO Woman In Odisha Crawled 2 Km For Her Rs. 300 Pension Because No One Would Deliver It To Her

Rudana Dehury lives by herself and what's worse is that she's physically challenged. Her incapacitated legs require her to crawl on her hands and feet in order to move. In order to collect her pension of Rs. 300, she had to crawl 2 km to the Nunukapasi Panchayat office in the Angul district of Odisha and her route involved crossing NH 55. The 65-year-old lady had repeatedly requested the government officials and Panchayat members to have her pension delivered to her doorstep due to her inability to walk all the way. However, it fell on deaf ears. A sub-collector commented that pensions cannot be delivered if there still are legal heirs, and that they would try to find someone who could collect the money on her behalf. Rudana was abandoned by her husband and children. She has no relatives to fall back on and has to fend for herself.
