These Are The Best And The Worst Passports To Own In The World In 2016

It's quite unfortunate how the country you're born in dictates how much freedom you get to travel around the world. While a citizen of the United States has clear access to travel in 170+ countries, a Somalian passport holder gets the same freedom in only 32 countries. Henley & Partners, a London-based consulting firm specialising in citizenship services, recently attempted to list down the power of passports around the world depending on how many countries they can travel to without a visa. According to their findings, Germany holds the most powerful passport in the world along with a few other European nations, United States, Japan and Canada. The worst passport to hold? Afghanistan. In fact, Afghanistan has ended up being the worst nation, every year since 2010. The Indian passport isn't very powerful either, ranking at a rather embarrassing 85th along with Mali and Uzbekistan. Indians can travel to 52 nations without a visa, which, while negligible when compared to Germans who get to travel to 177 nations without a visa, is still better than our neighbouring nations. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are ranked 96th with 39 nations, Nepal 98th with 37 nations and Pakistan 103, a rank higher than Afghanistan with the freedom to travel to only 29 nations. A list of the world's strongest passports: 1. Germany - 177 countries 2. Sweden - 176 countries 3. Finland France Italy - 175 countries Spain United Kingdom 4. Belgium Denmark - 174 countries Netherlands United States 5. Austria Japan - 173 countries

The least powerful passport nations are

99. Libya - 36 countries
100. Syria - 32 countries
101. Somalia - 31 countries
102. Iraq - 30 countries
103. Pakistan - 29 countries
104. Afghanistan 25 countries
