This IRS Officer Uses His Off Days From Work To Help Save The Girl Child In Rajasthan

Hari Narayan Meena is an Indian Revenue Service officer who is doing his bit towards saving the girl child in Rajasthan. Currently posted as a Joint Commissioner (Excise) in Delhi, Hari started walking this noble path by distributing fliers and interacting with people who came for morning walks at Jaipur's Central Park. Working on his mission to save the girl child, Hari was either mistaken for a donation collector or was simply ignored. But he kept at it, determined to bring a change in the state.

Prior to Delhi, Hari had been posted in Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. He has been working this noble deed for seven years now, with his wife Hemlata Meena as his constant support. With an aim to see these girls alive and well educated, the couple has equipped nearly 1,500 of them with books and educational material.

"When I was preparing for civil services, I was surprised to learn that when India was progressing in other sectors, the sex ratio was constantly on the decline since the Independence of the country. I thought what could be the reason for declining sex ratio. I started people making aware about declining sex ratio," said Hari.

Hari uses all his off-days from work to spread his message on 'save the girl child'. What a noble initiative!
