This Is A Story Of A 17-Year-Old Boy Who Overcame His Nightmares By Forming A Rock Band With His Friends

Every person is afraid of something. While the world is full of insecurities and negativities, there are some stories that never fail to inspire us and turn us towards the positive path. One such story is of these four 17-year-old boys. Reaching out to Indiatimes from Kerala, this band called ‘Giddy Hoo’ has a very interesting story behind its formation. The members Pratheek Suryadev (Vocalist/Guitarist), Yedhin Kizhakkethara (Lead guitarist), Devadathan Sivadas (Bassist) and Pranav Suryadev( Drummer) are school students. Talking about the ideology behind forming their rock band, the vocalist Pratheek revealed that he was only 11 when he conceived this idea. “When I was 11, I woke up sweating in the middle of the night. I always felt that someone was underneath the bed or behind me. I found it quite hard to go through nights. Nightmares and waking up in the midst of sleep became part of the routine. My dad always used to tell me when I was young, "Things around you are just the same. There is no light at night that's all". (That is also a line in the song).

I wanted to be a Rockstar ever since I was a little kid. (I used to watch Queen performing live and would fix my eyes on the TV screen, I was some 4 years old at that time)

So, I finally sat down to write a song about my fear, and how it's all in my head. I wrote a line and started singing it out with a tune that came into my mind so that I can select how I want the next line to be. That's why they rhyme. Also, I didn't know the difference between scare and fear back then, which owes to the grammatical error in the main line.

Even though I had written down the chorus, I always kept forgetting the tune. When I was 14, I used to jam with my best friend and the lead guitarist of the band to impress everyone in class during the intervals. When he started to play a tune, this song came to my mind and I started singing. He didn't stop, neither did I. When the chorus came, I just sang whatever that came in my mind. Like that the song was complete, thanks to something we both had in common, our chemistry. We both knew what we were thinking.

Finally, my twin brother found his 'thing', the instrument he was most comfortable with and natural at playing, the Drums(earlier was a guitar). He started taking classes. We met our bassist afterward. We started practicing, arranged the song and recorded with a small device our bassist luckily had. We sent out the very low-quality audio with poor recording to a lot of our friends. They loved it. “
