A young and innocent couple in love etch their initials on the bark of a tree. Shah Jahan builds a Taj Mahal for Mumtaz. Both are monuments of love, a way of preserving love in something that will last beyond the lover’s time on this planet. And sometimes, these monuments become legendary, because of the touching stories of the lovers. And also, because the monuments are beautiful, not just because they are built that way, but also because the aura of love that surrounds them.
People literally line up to kiss in the same alleyway as the local legendary lovers – Ana and Carlos. The lovers died tragic deaths, like Romeo and Juliet, and to pay a tribute to them, lovers flock to this place in Mexico, so that they might find true love too.
Every person has to kiss their lover on this bridge. Legend has it that if the lovers refuse to kiss on the bridge, it collapses under their feet.
It has never collapsed, or to bluntly put it, no loving couple has ever passed up the opportunity to kiss here.
