6.6 Earthquake Hits Afghanistan Ashkasham Tremors Felt Across Pakistan And Northern India


A 6.6-earthquake hit remote northwestern Pakistan near the Afghan border on Sunday. The tremors shook buildings in the Afghan and Pakistan capitals, witnesses and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.



“Tremors have been felt from Peshawar, parts of North Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber-Pankhtuwa region,” local journalist Yusra Akari told India.com.

According to scientist Pallava Bagla, casualties are expected.

The USGS said the quake was centred near Chitral in Pakistan at a depth of 210 km (130 miles).
