7 Historically Dubious Speeches Which were By no means Spoken.

Little did we know, that in most of the instances, most of our leaders make speeches keeping in mind multiple outcomes. So, for example, if you are a coach of your school cricket team, you are going to prepare two speeches – one, if you win, and another if you lose. Many such speeches have been made, but very few of them have been declassified because in many situations they can be embarrassing too. But some of them show incredible courage too. Take a look. The speech America kept ready if their moon mission failed and astronauts would be stranded on Moon. Remember how the movie The Martian ended? The astronaut was rescued and brought back to earth. So good of NASA and the American government to do that. The same cannot be said of the Nixon administration that was present during the first mission to the moon. Back then, president Nixon had a speech ready, if somehow the American astronauts didn’t make it back from the moon; or in short, if they were stranded there. There would be no dramatic rescue mission, only a sad speech declaring that the two astronauts gave up their life for space exploration.

The speech Queen Elizabeth kept ready in case of a nuclear war in the 1980s

As UK was bang in the middle of US and USSR geographically, another world war would certainly be a nuclear one. And in 1983, the British government prepared for eventualities if one would ever break out.

They prepared a speech too, which was to be delivered by the Queen, telling all the citizens to rally and help each other in case a nuclear war breaks out.

She spoke of the madness of war and how great odds would be surmounted against the kingdom and how they would have to brave through it all.

Thank god, she never had to give this speech.

The

JF Kennedy kept a Cuba war speech ready, just in case

When the Cold war was at its thickest, the Soviets didn’t have ICBMs. They didn’t have the capability to hit US cities with missiles launched from Soviet territories. However, the Americans had this capability.

So, the Soviets did the next best thing – they transported their missiles to communist Cuba, where they could strike any American city at any time.

Americans got to know about it and the situation escalated to almost a full blown war, and the then president John F Kennedy made a speech that declared that he had given the US military orders to completely attack Cuba on all fronts.

His speech also made it clear that the US will launch the ICBMs if it escalated to a full-blown war.
