Artist Converts Abandoned Manholes In Milan Into Secret Rooms And The Results Are Amazing

Artist Biancoshock created a series of photographs called Borderlife, where he converted three manholes in Milan's Lodi district into habitable spaces. He was inspired by homeless people in the Romanian city of Bucharest where he saw them inhabiting manholes of the city's sewer system. He found the idea of making uncomfortable spaces habitable, which led him to convert three manholes into different rooms that one would commonly find in a house. He made installations of a miniature kitchen with original culinary fittings, a shower stall and a living/cloak room. Biancoshock's mantra seems to be that inevitable problems should just be made more comfortable.
