Bharat Mata Ki Jai Controversy Continues, Now Punjab Leader Says Wont Chant The Slogan As Sikhs Dont Worship Women

Adding a fresh twist to the already heated up debate over 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogan, now a radical Sikh community leader has come out against using it. Simranjit Singh Mann, the president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) said that Sikhs cannot chant the slogan as “Sikhs don’t worship women in any form”. “According to the BJP, one who doesn’t say ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ is not a patriot and can be tried for sedition... Sikhs should say ‘Waheguru ji ka Khalsa, Waheguru ji ki Fateh’,” Hindustan Times quoting Mann reported.

He also added that Sikhs cannot say ‘Vande Matram’ either.

Mann, a former IPS officer and Khalistan activist also warned the BJP about imposing Hindu scriptures like the Geeta on people form other faiths.

Bharat Mata Ki Jai slogan had become the centre of a controversy after All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi said that he will not chant Bharat Mata Ki Jai "even if you put a knife to my throat."

Owaisi was responding to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat who demanded that young people of India had to be taught to chant slogans in support of the country.
