NIT Srinagar campus saw some massive tension over the last week, when almost a riot like situation broke out among the students over the Indian cricket team's loss against West Indies in the T20 World Cup. For all those who are unaware of the situation at the NIT campus, this is how serious it is. There's one soldier for every two students in the campus. With the CRPF inside the campus the non-Kashmiri students are feeling somewhat safer but the situation is still not fully under control. According to reports, non-Kashmiri girls of NIT Srinagar have been allegedly threatened of rape and murder by Kashmiri students. One non-Kashmiri student narrated the horror of being threatened- “Yesterday, a group of Kashmiri students walked up to me and said: ‘Ek ke saath rape hoga to sab thande pad jaoge’ (If one of you gets raped, the rest will fall silent). Following these threats, the girls from NIT Srinagr came out bravely hoisting the tricolor and sent out a powerfull message to the world that they are 'Not Afraid'.
