Bunty Chor-Inspired Car Thief Who Stole Over 100 Luxury Vehicles Nabbed In Delhi

He drove into apartment complexes in luxury sedans such as Audi or Mercedes, and left in greater style and a more expensive car. His career pickings include around 100 high-end automobiles, all stolen with characteristic elan. However, the crime run came to an end on Wednesday when police nabbed super car-lifter Robin from his hideout in Devli, southeast Delhi, where he had been living with his girlfriend.

Police said Robin was so inspired by 'superchor' Bunty that he kept his photo in the wallet. He had watched the movie Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! based on Bunty's life, 25 times and imitated his modus operandi.

The anti-auto theft squad of west Delhi police nabbed Robin after getting a tip-off about his hideout. A BMW and a Toyota Fortuner were recovered from him. He had recently driven to sector 17A, Noida, in a stolen Audi A-7 and driven off in a more expensive BMW.

Police said Robin has been into crime for 14 years but moved into car-lifting recently, after meeting master carjacker Manoj Bakkarwala in jail. Robin has confessed he sold his stolen cars to one 'Nawab', a resident of Udham Singh Nagar. "He targeted only posh colonies and house owners who were out on a morning walk.

He entered their homes, stole car keys and drove away without blinking twice. He operated in Delhi, Haryana, UP, Chandigarh and Punjab," said Pushpendra, DCP (west).
