Delhi Govt Wont Allow Surge Pricing By Ola Uber Even After Odd-Even Is Over

After forcing app based cab service providers like Uber and Ola to withdraw the controversial surge pricing in Delhi following the implementation of odd-even plan, the government is now looking at doing away with the practice completely. Transport minister Gopal Rai said government will soon come out with a policy to regulate app-based taxis and their fares. Even chief minister Arvind Kejriwal attacked cab service providers for over charging on twitter. "We are not against taxi aggregators. We fully support them. They provide imp service to people. But they will have to follow law," Kejriwal said.

The decision also comes at a time then the AAP government is cracking down on cabs who are overcharging passengers.

Since the second phase of odd-even began on Friday, around 50 cabs from service providers like Uber and Ola has been impounded by the government.

Meanwhile, facing criticism, Ola said that the company is working towards ensuring the availability by increasing the number of cabs. It also announced free rides on its shuttle services on the remaining Fridays in the odd-even period.

We extend complete support to the odd-even initiative by the government and have revoked peak pricing completely in this period. We are also ensuring maximum availability of cabs in Delhi NCR to cater to the increased demand during this phase. We have over 26,000 CNG vehicles in NCT of Delhi and have added more than 1,000 vehicles through our leasing programme in the previous week," a company statement said.
