Farhan Akhtar, who also happens to be the United Nations Women's Goodwill Ambassador for South Asia, is known for taking strong stands on the issues of feminism and gender equality. Irrespective of how the world perceives him, Farhan never shies away from being an active advocate for women everywhere. This is precisely why his latest take on Women's Day is garnering so much appreciation. In an exclusive interview with Bombay Times, Farhan said, "Apart from celebrating femininity, this day helps focus on issues like gender balance and the crisis faced by women."

Calling attention to the need for deeper contemplation, Farhan further adds,

"It is just a red-letter day to remind us how far we have travelled from the previous year. They have happiness index in many countries where they measure how happy people are in that place. Logically speaking, that sounds funny, right? Aren't people supposed to be happy all the time? In terms of discussing issues and saluting people, every single day is an opportunity."

And he also believes that it's not a man's place to judge or dictate what needs to be discussed on a day that has been specified to celebrate women,

"I, as a man, am happy to stand shoulder to shoulder with whatever women want to use this day for. They should individually use it to speak about anything and everything that is close to their hearts."
