From The British Point Of View this Beautiful Video Clip Shows The Heart Of Delhi Connaught Place

Regardless of whether you are a Delhiite or a Non-Delhiite, we are pretty sure you are familiar with Connaught Place or CP. Often called the heart of the city, CP is perhaps one of the only few places left in Delhi that gives out the feel of The British era. With a circular structure, this place is home to hip cafes, coffee outlets and a lot of showrooms for various brands. The beauty of this place is the fact that one can explore CP from start to end without getting lost! Why you ask? Well, because it’s in a circle. It is quite brilliantly constructed if you really think about it. Check out this amazing clip right here:

But CP was not always how it is now. The bustling crowd, tens of car parking areas with hundreds of cars, the huge national flag right in the middle of Central Park were nowhere to be seen back then.

Before you ask us how we know about it, let me break the suspense. A video of Delhi’s favourite area before India attained freedom has surfaced online and has left many awestruck. The short clip shows India from the British point of view in the year 1938. It looks nothing like it does now. There were no cars, no jams (obviously), no crowds - just a striking white building.

In fact it was named after Field Marshal Prince Arthur, 1st Duke of Connaught and Strathearn.
