Gear Up For Sanskari Engineers And Inventions Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani Has Asked IITs To Teach Sanskrit

In continuing with her staunch efforts to saffronise, err revolutionise, the academic machinery of India, Union Minister for Human Resource Development has asked the IITs to teach Sanskrit language. This has been done for facilitating study of science and technology as reflected in Sanskrit literature, Lok Sabha was told on Monday.

The move comes after a panel, chaired by former CEC N Gopalaswami, in its report had suggested that IITs may facilitate study of science and technology as reflected in Sanskrit literature along with inter-disciplinary study of Sanskrit and modern subjects. All this was conveyed by the HRD minister in a written reply.

"Accordingly, IITs have been requested to teach Sanskrit language especially with reference to study of works which contain scientific knowledge," Irani added.

This can be counted as yet another feather in the cap of Irani who has overseen great measures for developing education in India like providing interest free loans to IITians because after doubling their fee many people just couldn't afford it anymore.

Thankfully, she didn't ask IITs to research on why IITians form 90% of the educated beef-eaters in the country, as claimed by one of her colleagues!
