HCS Aspirant Dream Comes True A Decade After He Died Of Cancer

Some would call it an irony of fate whereas many would condemn the destiny for doing this injustice to Late Sujeet Kumar whose dream to become a Haryana Civil Service (HCS) officer came true after ten years of his demise. Sujeet who died of cancer in November 2005 was selected for HCS Executive Branch in 2004; but before he could join the office, the appointment got embroiled in a controversy of irregularities in process of selection. Hence, an inquiry was ordered. A decade later, the vigilance bureau has found nothing objectionable against 38 candidates including Sujeet. The candidates who came clean approached Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek appointment. And in February, the HC ordered the state government to appoint the incumbents. On May 6, the state government asked 23 candidates to come to the concerned department for the verification of documents. Sujeet’s name figures at 13th spot, but unfortunately he is no more here to taste the fruits of his hard work.

Sujeet’s family lives in Hisar and this development has given them joy; but in the meantime, they are sad because their child is no more to taste this victory.

The family said, Sujeet got a job of chemistry lecturer in 2000. In 2002, he was selected as a ‘Tehsildar’ in the revenue department. While in service, he found that he’s afflicted with cancer.

But despite knowing it, he didn’t give up his dream and continued preparing for HCS. IN 2004, his labour paid off and he made to HCS (EB).

But soon the appointment descended into controversy which marred his dream of being an HCS officer before succumbing to the disease.
