After a humpback whale found itself stranded on a sandbank in Australia, her calf came to her rescue. As can be seen in the video, the calf gently nudges the mother forward. Watch the video below:
This happened on Wednesday in North Stradbroke Island, roughly 100 km away from Brisbane. The whale was stuck a worrying 40 minutes before getting free. Teams from both the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services (QPWS) and Sea World joined forces in helping the distressed pair.
In an interview with the BBC, a QPWS spokesperson explained, "The whale was able to free itself and the adult and the calf were able to swim away."
