His Muslim neighbours paid their last respects to him

Janki Nath lived among more than 5,000 Muslims in the city of Malvan. His family fled from Kashmir in the year of 1990, when militancy was at an all time high, and Nath had to retire from his Government job.

Refused to leave the place he called home

The fear of militants and their increased pressure did nothing to deter Janki Nath. He always thought of Malvan as his home and stayed put, and hence, befriended the Muslims in the area, who he’d know for many years to come. Nath passed away on the 31st of January, 2015.

Peace in the time of war. This story just goes on to show that love, respect, and friendship know no religion and that a person deserves a peaceful departure from the world, irrespective of his caste.
Rest in peace, Janki Nath.
