India Has The World's Most Medical Colleges, But Half Of Them Did ZERO Research In 10 Years.

At 579, India has the most number of medical colleges and teaching hospitals in the world. But are they really fit to be considered legitimate sources of the next generation of doctors?

Over half of these haven't produced a single peer-reviewed research paper in 10 years (2005-2014). It was only 25 of these institutes that did half the number of research papers!

Further, one out of every six of the country’s 398 medical schools has been accused of cheating, according to Indian government records and court filings. Samiran Nundy, a Delhi-based senior gastrointestinal surgeon told the Telegraph newspaper the importance of these papers: "These findings support long-standing suspicions that for many private colleges in the country, medical education is just a business.
