Next iPhone will have innovations you didn't know you need, so says Apple CEO Tim Cook. Cook said this on during an interview on CNBC. Cook told CNBC's Jim Cramer, "We have great innovation in the pipeline, like new iPhones that will incent you and other people that have iPhones today to upgrade to new iPhones... We are going to give you things that you can't live without, that you just don't even know you need today..." The interview is said to be an attempt to assuage worried Apple investors. "We just had an incredible quarter by absolute standards, $50 billion plus in revenues, $10 billion in profits," Cook told Cramer.
Talking about the profit Apple makes on its smartphones versus other companies, Cook said, "Last year, we earned $53 billion in profits. And I think the No. 2 company was $24 (billion). We are doing pretty good."
According to Canaccord Genuity research, Apple's share of total smartphone industry profits grew to 94% during the September quarter, up from 85% one year ago.
According to Chinese microblogging website Weibo, the upcoming iPhones will get a battery boost. The Weibo report, which also has photos allegedly from the factory floor, shows battery capacity of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus as 1735mAh and 2810mAh respectively. Other new rumored features of iPhone 7 include an all-new home button design, dual-lens camera, faster processor and waterproofing.
