If you get a text telling you need to renew your Apple ID, think twice. Apple is the victim of yet another phishing scam, which sees users linked to a particular website get a new Apple ID.

The link takes you to a site which evidently expects you to 'log in' via your original password. And boom, your account is hacked. The text message was first spotted by The Independent, and has been described in screenshots on Twitter. On the official site page concerning 'Phishing', Apple mentions: “As a general rule, never send credit card information, account passwords, or extensive personal information in an email unless you verify that the recipient is who they claim to be. Many companies have policies that state they will never solicit such information from customers by email.â€Apple ID Scam. Warning. Got a text message from iCloudID asking for all you bank details? It’s a scam. My daughter almost got stung. Ignore!
