Italian World Cup Winner And Legendary Right Back Zambrotta Signs As Delhi Dynamos Manager

Gianluca Zambrotta has penned a two-year deal with Indian Super League club Delhi Dynamos as their next manager. The Italian has won three Serie A titles with Juventus and AC Milan, but his crowning glory remains winning the World Cup in 2006. The right-back played a crucial role and was also selected in the team of the tournament following a remarkable glory for Italy. Zambrotta will incidentally replace another legendary wing back - the Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos, who led the Dynamos to the semifinals last year. Carlos had announced last season itself that he will not return as manager of the club. Italian sports website La Gazzetta reported that the deal has been done, and so has Goal Italia.

It was earlier rumoured that former Manchester United defender Gary Neville will join as manager of the club, but sources told us that Delhi Dynamos were far from making a serious approach for the Englishman. Apart from an illustrious career which saw him make 98 appearances for Italy and also appear for top clubs Juventus, Milan, Barcelona, Zambrotta has gained managerial experience with Swiss club FC Chiasso. His side finished 7th in the 10-team Swiss Challenge League this season.
