Malavath Poorna Might Remain The Youngest Person To Have Scaled Mount Everest


The Nepal Government has put a new law into force to stop attempts by mountaineers under the age of 18, people with disabilities which require another person's assistance, and those who have not scaled a summit of at least 6,500m height in the past.



12-year-old Tyler Armstrong, who announced his interest in attempting the world's tallest mountain last year, has been denied permission under the same.

The mountain is open to summit attempts from the months of May through July every year. “We cannot let everyone go on Everest and die. If they are not physically and mentally fit it will be like a legal suicide,” the Nepalese Tourism Minister said in a statement. “The disabled or visually impaired people usually need someone to carry them, which is not an adventure. Only those who can go on their own will be given permission.”
