A Massive Dead Humpback Whale Was Towed Out To Sea In Los Angeles

It was a sad sight when a bulldozer pulled a massive humpback whale which was stuck at Dockweiler Beach in Los Angeles. The 46-feet long whale emitted a stench that made the lifeguards put yellow cautionary tape around it. Beach-goers had to cover their nose as the beach was reeking with carcass stench.

When it was first seen at the beach, the whale was covered in whale lice, which is an indication of poor health.

Biologists took tissue samples to determine how the animal died and it was noticed that there were scars on its tail, which indicated that it had been snarled in some kind of fishing line.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Humpbacks are known for consuming up to 3,000 pounds of krill, plankton and tiny fish daily. Whales appearing on the Californian seashore has become a frequent sight as a humpback was spotted at Santa Cruz bay in May.
