Meet Ayesha Aziz India’s Youngest Pilot Who Got Her License When She Was Just 16

Ever since she was a child Ayesha Aziz wanted to fly planes. And as they say, opportunities come knocking to only those who have a prepared mind. At 20 now, Ayesha Aziz has not only fulfilled her childhood dream, she also became the youngest pilot of the country. As The New Indian Express mentions, Aziz says “More than being India’s youngest pilot, I am happy for having accomplished my childhood goal”. It all began when she along with her parents would fly to their native place, Kashmir, about twice of thrice a year. She would enjoy the take-offs and the landings, while her brother, scared of it all, would sleep.

Aziz also got the chance to visit NASA and met aviator John McBride. But meeting her inspiration Sunita Williams was probably the best moment of her life. Aziz says “I met her when she came to Worli in 2013 or 2014. I shared my experiences with her. I told her about the activities I participated in NASA like scuba diving, moon walk and bunny walk which an astronaut should know.”

Aziz joined the flying school after she completed her Class X and got her student pilot licence when she turned 16. Although that was 2013, her training got delayed due to certain monetary constraints.

Now she flies the single engine Cessna 152 and Cessna 172.

It must be mentioned here that not only the youngest pilot, she has also done an ad commercial for Whisper and multiple photoshoots for a magazine.

At last she leaves you with a thought by saying that it’s great to have understanding parents where on the other hand people still look for girls who know to cook biryani when they want to get hitched.
