Mother Of Satan The Explosive Recovered In Hyderabad Was Also Used In Brussels and Paris Attacks

The ISIS module which was busted in Hyderabad on Wednesday by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) reportedly had plans to carry out a series of bomb attack in the city during Eid. The NIA team recovered explosive materials including Urea, Hydrogen Peroxide, Ammonium Nitrate and Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP) from the residence of one of the arrested men. Among this a matter of concern is the discovery of TATP, a high grade explosive that can be used in making of Hydrogen Peroxide. This is the same material used by IS to make the explosives in the Paris and Brussels attacks.

It was found from the basement of the house of Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Amoodi alias Fahad, one of the five youths arrested by the NIA.

Times of India quoting sources reported that the group could have been planning suicide bomb attacks in Hyderabad, likely targeting a police station.

This is the first time TATP would have been used to carry out terror attacks in India.

TATP aka Mother of Satan

Often referred as "Mother of Satan" the explosive is easy to make in a basement lab under controlled conditions. The main ingredients of TATP include acetone, hydrogen peroxide and sulphuric acid, which are easily available at pharmacies, hardware shops and cosmetics stores. It was once the weapon of choice for suicide bomber in Israel.

The NIA conducted raids across Hyderabad on Wednesday and arrested five men for allegedly having links with ISIS.

These men have been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdhani, his brother Mohammed Illiyas, Habeeb Mohammed, Mohammed Irfan and Abdullah Bin Ahmed Al-Amoodi.

Investigators said Yazdhani was guided by Syria-based Shafi Armar on bomb making and they even learned it from YouTube videos. The basement of another terror accused Mohammed Habeeb was used for target practice. The group was using instant messaging app Telegram and WhatsApp for their communication.
