Aiming to curb air pollution, the Delhi government is bringing back the odd-even scheme for vehicles from April 15-30 in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Thursday. Addressing a press conference, CM Kejriwal maintained that scheme is set to start again “for a short period”, adding it can’t be a permanent feature. Here are some other important takeways from his press conference: The CM announced that the odd-even the scheme has been brought back after taking feedback from the public.Citing the online survey carried out by the government, Arvind Kejriwal said that 81 per cent of Delhi's residents wanted the odd-even plan to be implemented again. Putting an end to speculation, he said that single women drivers and two-wheelers will continue to remain exempted. VIPs will also be exempted in the second phase of odd-even formula. The CM assured Delhiites that the government would increase the number of DTC buses during this period to boost public transport. The decision on making the Odd-Even feature a permanent one will be taken after the second phase. To enforce the implementation of the rule in second phase, Delhi government will be using the services 500 retired defence personnel who will be recruited and trained by April 15
