PM Modi to meet Apples Cook, Googles Pichai & Facebooks Zuckerberg during US.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has joined the list of high-profile CEOs from Silicon Valley to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visits the US later this month. The meet is crucial for PM Modi's high-profile Make in India initiative. It is believed that Cupertino tech giant Apple may be looking to invest in building manufacturing capacities - to locally manufacture its iPhones among other things -- in India. This should give 'Make in India' a major boost, more so because Foxconn - that manufactures much of the Apple products -- recently promised to invest $5 billion in its own manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. PM Modi will try and persuade Apple to invest in manufacturing and research & development (R&D) in India. Apple on its part is likely to consider manufacturing in India for third country markets as also consider manufacturing refurbished products. It must be noted that India's industrial policy does not allow refurbishing currently. The meet may therefore be a stepping stone for something that goes way beyond just Apple, should India make any relaxation in its industrial policy and allow companies to locally refurbish products. Apple's Cook will not be the only one to meet Modi as he prepares to sweep through New York and California, a first for an Indian PM in almost three decades. The list includes prominent CEOs like Google's India born Sundar Pichai along with Adobe Systems Inc's Shantanu Narayen. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg will be doing a town hall meeting with Modi on September 27 at the social media giant's headquarters. PM Modi will be riding high on the growing success and reach of his government's 'Digital India' and 'Make in India' campaigns to drive entrepreneurship and innovation, all the while trying to persuade global honchos to invest in India. Modi is also scheduled to attend a 100-guest dinner -- with top chief executives from companies specialising in infrastructure and manufacturing -- hosted by Time Inc. Meanwhile, J P Morgan will be hosting an exclusive meet for 15 top CEOs specialising in the financial sector with Modi. Modi is also scheduled to meet News Corp's Rupert Murdoch and Tesla's iconic Elon Musk. The meet with the latter is expected to have renewable energy as one of the themes.
