The stationmaster at Rajasthan's Munabao railway station was suspended on Saturday after he passed out after getting drunk on duty. Reports said officials broke a window of Rajuram Choudhary's locked room after he did not respond while operations were disturbed at the station near the India-Pakistan border.

Water was poured on the stationmaster, but he fell down again. The officials went looking for Choudhary after Pakistan bound Thar Express was left stranded at Gadra ahead of the Munabao station for 30 minutes for the want of clearance. An inquiry has been ordered as the stationmaster was suspended after a medical examination.

Sources said Choudhary had been put on notice thrice earlier and that he is an alcoholic. North Western Railways spokesman Tarun Jain confirmed Choudhary's "mismanagement" and said security of passengers and punctuality was their priority.
