Chandmal Jain. a grocery store owner in Majeragaon in Rajasthan buried his wife alive in April, under the pretence of digging a toilet under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. But he was finally caught when police dug out the body of the woman from the construction pit on Sunday, says a Mid Day report. Jain had married his wife in 2013, but she was soon bedridden due to an ailment she had been suffering from. Tired of caring for her, he reportedly called some workers to build a bathroom inside his home under the Swachch Bharat Abhiyan initiative. But when the workers finished digging a pit for the toilet, he buried his ailing wife alive and refused to let workers continue building, and claimed that he couldn't pay them. Jain was finally forced to file an FIR after neighbours and family members asked him to explain his wife's disappearance, but fled once investigations began. He was later nabbed in Mumbai where he was charged with murder.
