Rajnath Singh Says India Will Seek Release Of Indian Soldier Captured By Pakistan

A day after Pakistani media claimed that 8 Indian soldiers were killed and one was captured at the hands of Pakistani Army in the surgical strike at LoC, India will now official seek the release of its captured soldier. "India will take up the issue with Pakistan. All attempts to free the soldier in Pakistani captivity are being made," home minister Rajnath Singh said, reports NDTV. What we know about the soldier The soldier Chandu Babulal Chauhan's of Rashtriya Rifles was captured hours after India announced about its surgical strikes along the LoC. India said its troops went around 2-km deep into territory occupied by Pakistan and attacked seven terror launch pads. Chauhan was in no way related to the attack and had reportedly crossed the border by mistake. Indian Army sources said, "One soldier from 37 RR with weapon has inadvertently crossed over to the other side of the Line of Control. Pakistan has been informed by the DGMO on the hotline." "Such inadvertent crossing by Army and civilians are not unusual on either side. They are returned through existing mechanisms," they said.

Earlier, the Indian Army had rejected as "false and baseless" the reports in a section of Pakistani media that eight Indian soldiers were killed and one captured by Pakistani military in retaliatory fire.

The Army's reaction came after Dawn News reported the Pakistani military's claim that it has killed eight Indian soldiers and captured one while retaliating to India's firing at the first line of defence at the Line of Control (LoC) at Tatta Pani.

The report in 'Dawn News' also said that an Indian soldier had been captured and was identified as 22-year-old Chandu Babulal Chohan son of Bashan Chohan from Maharashtra.
