Rishabh Pant scores fastest Ranji Trophy century


Rishabh Pant scored the fastest century in Ranji Trophy history when he amassed 100 runs in 48 balls in Delhis second innings against Jharkhand at the St Xaviers KCA Cricket Ground in Trivandrum. His rapid fire knock saw six fours and ten sixes At just 19, Pant has already made a mark in the first class cricket for himself and has been in sublime form this season with more than 700 runs in six innings of cricket. The previous record for the fastest ton in Ranji Trophy was held by Naman Ojha with his century in 2015 taking 69 balls. Even in the first innings, Pant scored a ton 117 from 106 balls with his century then taking 82 balls for the third quickest ton in Ranji Trophy. His second inning knock, however, had bigger ramifications on the contest with Delhi pressed behind after Jharkhand had put Delhi on to follow on after going behind by 159 runs. Eventually, Pant fell for 135 from 67 balls after being dismissed by Ashish Kumar and taken by Ishan Kishan. This isnt Pants first magical innings this season. Few days back, Pant became the second wicket-keeper batsman to score a triple-century in first-class cricket. Facing Maharashtra in the Group B contest, Pant achieved the historic feat at the Wankhede where he scored 308 from 326 balls. However his stay in the middle was brought to an end by a stumping courtesy Vishant More. In that inning, Pant slammed 42 fours and 8 sixes.
