She Always Struggles At Restaurants, But This Time, She Got A Huge Surprise

Back in February, we covered a story about a Starbucks barista who learned sign language to help a deaf customer after the act of kindness quickly went viral. As it turns out, another compassionate cashier has made quite an impact on a girl in Fayetteville, North Carolina. When a woman named Cynthia stepped into Chick-fil-A with her deaf daughter one day, she expected to be met with the usual complications. Her daughter has always felt anxious about ordering food, and sadly, most people just don't have the skills it takes to communicate with the girl in her language. This lunch outing, however, went much differently than most. To their surprise and delight, the cashier started signing to her without missing a beat. One of the coolest things about this generation of young people is the fact that many have a desire to be more inclusive. Gestures like this might seem small to us, but for people like Cynthia's daughter, they're anything but. These acts of kindness make her feel like she's a regular person who can go about daily life just like everyone else. They let her know that people are on her side, even when it feels like she's in this alone.
