MUMBAI: A meeting scheduled today between Indian and Pakistan cricket board officials was canceled soon after about 200 Shiv Sena workers stormed the Mumbai office of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the Wankhede Stadium to protest the meeting. Over two dozen protesters from the south Mumbai region were detained by the police, while a few other managed to escape. "We are looking into it. Those detained will be booked as per law," said a police officer. The workers, meanwhile, said their stand is clear about Pakistan and it that they will protest in future too. "Sena will not allow cricket matches with Pakistan in Mumbai," said Pandurang Sakpal, zonal head of Shiv Sena's south Mumbai wing. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Shahryar Khan and the head of the PCB's executive committee Najam Sethi arrived in India on Sunday in a bid to convince the BCCI to confirm the India-Pakistan cricket series in December. "The trip is being made on the invitation of (BCCI chief) Shashank Manohar who took over as the new Indian cricket chief," a PCB official said. Shaharyar and Sethi were scheduled to meet Manohar, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur and other government officials. "The PCB is mentally prepared to even settle for a shorter series but want it to be Pakistan's home series and in the UAE," a PCB source was quoted as saying by PTI. Khan also discussed the planned series with BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur on the sidelines of the ICC meeting in Dubai recently. Thakur had assured him that a final decision could be taken later this month and conveyed Manohar's invitation to visit India to Shaharyar. A reliable source in the PCB said Khan and Sethi had both gone to India after holding discussions with the government's National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz.

BCCI is a responsible body and will not do anything against national interest. Cricketing decisions should be left to BCCI.
