Stephen Hawking Believes Black Holes Might Be Portals To Another Universe

In a recent lecture held at the Harvard University, legendary physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking claimed that the black holes found in our galaxy could actually be portals to a parallel or alternate universe. If the film Interstellar is the first thing that comes to your mind after reading this, then yes, that's exactly what he's suggesting.

What Hawking said

Hawking, talking about black holes, said, "For more than 200 years, we have believed in the science of determinism, that is that the laws of science determine the evolution of the universe. If information was lost in black holes, we wouldn't be able to predict the future because the black hole could emit any collection of particles."

His recent talk goes completely against the scientific belief that information belonging to a particular time can be used to understand its state at a different time.

Scientists, over the years, have speculated that black holes are nothing but a vast area of hollow mass with gravitational pull and angular momentum so strong that even light cannot pass through it. However, as per that theory, quantum mechanics points at a totally opposite direction according to Hawking. Black holes can only be formed by particles with explicit wavelengths, he says. If the characteristics of the bodies that create black holes aren't deprived, they hold a lot of information that we, in the outside world, don't know about.

Matter can get out of a black hole

In a talk held earlier, professor Hawking mentioned that black holes "aren't the eternal prisons they were once thought." He said, "Things can get out of a black hole, both from the outside and possibly through another universe." Giving everyone who fears falling into a black hole a sense of hope. "If you feel you're in a black hole, don't give up. There's a way out," he said.

Keep an eye out for this, guys. We might be heading towards a time where Christopher Nolan's Interstellar could actually become a reality.
