Syrian Refugee Blows Himself Up And Injures 12 In Germany After Being Denied Asylum

A Syrian refugee who was denied asylum, blew himself up and injured 12 others, after being turned away from an open-air music festival in Ansbach. This makes it Bavaria’s third attack in one week. The 27-year-old’s asylum request was rejected a year ago but he was allowed to remain in Germany because of the on-going civil war in Syria. Joachim Herrmann, Bavarian Interior Minister, said: “We don’t know if this man planned on suicide or if he had the intention of killing others.” He added that three of the 12 victims suffered serious injuries. It hasn’t yet been made clear whether there is an Islamist link to the attack or the attacker’s motive.
