As India struggles with increasing abuse against women and gender inequality, International Center for Research on Women (ICRW) in collaboration with the Indian government, has introduced a 2-year programme in state run schools of Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Gender awareness classes in schools are helping girl students of Mumbai's Cheeta Camp to voice their opinions and ensure an equal space in the society, while at the same time teaching boys to share chores with their sisters and mothers at home, Reuters reports.
