He has been on wheels since 2005 and has travelled to states like Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu. Anbu has also travelled to Nepal solely on his bicycle. A postgraduate in Sociology, Anbu used to tutor kids in Namakkal Kerala. It was the catastrophic 2004 tsunami, which compelled him to take up the nature’s cause. Anbu stops at various schools and lectures about ‘nature awareness’ to students. He has modified his humble bicycle and has attached two metal boxes in which he carries his food and requirements. He also requests the school authority to give him food on which he survives. Once, during his expedition, he was abducted by maoists and was later on released after 12 days only when a local journalist intervened. Recently, Anbu was denied an entry to Lakshadweep island. He was told that he should be getting an official permit or a sponsor to get an entry into the island. Anbu has now resolved to take up the matter to Kerala CM Oommen Chandy, for which he is now pedalling his way to Thiruvananthapuram. Later on, he is planning to take over the north-east with his ‘partner’ – his bicycle.
