Today Is April Fool Day And It May Have Originated From The Ancient Roman Laughing Festival

It's April 1. The day for jesting and throwing a few fun punches with friends and family. While it may have people on their guard, quite often the jokes are also believable and inadvertently lead to hilarious results. Here's more on why April Fool's Day is so popular. Origin and traditions There is no fixed notion of where April 1 came from. Some attribute it to the move from the Julian calendar, (which began on the New Year in April) to the current Gregorian calendar. The ancient Romans also had a festival known as Hilaria (resembles the word hilarity). The new age equivalent of it is called Roman Laughing Day. And a similar Iranian version of April Fool's Day is a holiday called Sizdahbedar. On this day, people are said to play pranks on one another.
