Two Women Critical After Being Dragged For 100 Metres In A Hit-And-Run Case In Noida

Road rage and hit-and-run cases seem to be becoming a daily affair in the National Capital Region. In yet another case, two women were critically injured after being hit by a car and dragged for over 100 metres in a hit-and-run case, reported Hindustan Times. The incident occurred on June 7 in Sector 36 in Noida when the two victims Snigdha Bisht, 25, and Malvika Bisht, 23, were returning home after watching a movie at 9.30 pm. Out of nowhere, a speeding white Maruti WagonR hit their auto-rickshaw from behind. Both Snigdha's and Malvika's condition remains critical as they received multiple fractures and internal injuries. The rickshaw puller was also seriously injured and even went missing for a couple of days after the accident. He was later traced at his home in a slum area in Sector 76 where he was staying without any treatment. It's been over a week and the accused still remains untraceable. In fact, their family allege that the police took two full days to file an FIR against the accused. The police on the other hand claim that though the accident was captured by a CCTV camera installed at a distance from the spot, the number plate on the car wasn't visible in the footage. "While our daughters suffer in pain, the accused is roaming around endangering the lives of others,” Snigdha’s father said, speaking to Hindustan Times.
