Meerut police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife by pushing her into canal on the pretext of clicking selfie. The incident happened on Monday in Meerut's Sardhana area. The accused, Aftab used selfie as an alibi to take his wife Ayesha close to the Ganga canal and pushed her into it.

Later he went to the police with his eight-month-old son and complained that five miscreants tried to rob them and pushed his wife into the canal when she resisted.

However on detailed interrogation by the police, Aftab admitted to pushing her down.

Ayesha's family said even though the couple have been married for two years, Aftab used to harass her demanding more dowry. An FIR has been filed against Aftab and his elder brother Shehzaad, who is still at large.
