Water Conservation Does not Apply For Politicians 7 Lakhs Litres Of Water Wasted For Rajasthan CM Raje Helipad

Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje is the latest Indian politician to join the growing list of leaders who are indifferent to the acute water crisis and suffering of the people.

At a time when the state is reeling under a heat-wave with temperatures hovering above 45 degrees and facing water crisis, lakhs of liters of water was spent on preparing a temporary helipad for the CM's visit to Ajmer. She was in Ajmer to inaugurate the first rope-way system in the state.

“The chief minister’s visit was for a very short period. Keeping in mind her convenience, we ordered the construction of a new helipad,” Ajmer sub-divisional magistrate HL Meena said.

Locals the' preparation' of the helipad went on for days.

“I was ordered by the officials to water the helipad area to ‘settle’ the sand at the site. I have been watering the site for past three days. 40 tankers of 6,000-litre capacity each have been pouring water at the site,” Shaitan Singh, a water tanker owner told Hindustan Times.

The waste of water comes at a time when the state is already declared drought hit.

As many as 19 of the total 33 districts are affected by the drought.

Rjae is not alone when it comes to shocking insensitivity towards drought victims. Earlier Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and Maharashtra relief and rehabilitation minister Eknath Khadse had come under fire for wasting water meant for drought victims.

Another Maharashtra minister, Pankaja Munde had faced criticism over her 'drought selfie' in Latur.
