Women Must Wear Wet Clothes To Enter Trimbakeshwar Temple In Maharashtra W-T-Actual-F

The Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust in Maharashtra finally granted women permission to enter Lord Shiva temple’s sanctum Sanctorum, but here’s the catch. In a move, that is not only offensive and disgraceful, women will be allowed to enter the core area of the temple every day for one hour between 6 am to 7 am, under the condition that they wear wet silk or cotton clothes while offering their prayers. The decision to allow women was taken by the temple trust in a meeting held on Wednesday but only under these conditions, said by Lalita Shinde, one of the temple trustees.

Pune-based organisation Swarajya Sanghatana led by Vanita Gutte which has been the driving force behind the agitation refused to accept these derogatory conditions to enter the temple on Thursday morning wearing wet clothes.

A complaint has been filed by Gutte, that they were obstructed from entering the temple on Thursday night. The police have registered offences against 250 people including the temple trust and the locals.

“We will have to check the footage of 45 CCTV cameras, other things to identify persons, against whom Swarajya Sanghatana chief Vanita Gutte has lodged complaint,” Trimbakeshwar police station in-charge Haribhau Kolhe said.

Vanita Ghutte and other activists left the holy town on Thursday.

It is safe to say that the minds of the temple authorities have dried up just like the rivers of the state.
